Today, we honor Cesar Chavez, a civil rights activist and visionary leader who dedicated his life to advocating for the rights of workers. Chavez founded the first successful farm workers union in American history, fighting for better wages, working conditions, and dignity for farm workers. His legacy continues to inspire generations to advocate for social justice.![]()

In 2021, two books about Cesar Chavez - Harvesting Hope by Kathleen Krull and Who Was Cesar Chavez? by Dana Meachen Rau - were unfortunately banned in Pennsylvania's Central York School District, according to PEN America's Index of School Book Bans. Closing on March 29th, OPEN SET 2025 is an international fine design binding competition from the American Academy of Bookbinding.
