Open Tues-Sat 10am-4pm: Walk-ins Welcome

We have a newly developed self-guided audio tour. While we were working at home, sheltering-in-place, the ABM team developed a one-hour audio tour that tells the story of the book. Even if you have already taken our tour, you have a new experience in store for you. Join us after we reopen October 1st, and be among the first to take our audio tour.

Using your own smartphone or tablet—so you don’t have to worry about physical contact—you can listen to the audio tour using earbuds or headphones. Don’t have a smartphone or tablet? No problem, you can check out a tablet and we will give you disposable earbuds for the tour. All tablets are disinfected after each use.

Our new audio tours starts with historical background on books, writing surfaces and guilds. Followed by hand binding in the 1600, bookbinding in colonial America, industrial bindings of the 1800s and Stationers of the late 1800s, early 1900s. And of course ABM’s docent are still available to answer questions while you take the tour.

We continue to add to our collection and update our tours. Your support helps us keep the story of the book alive for the next generation of book lovers. Join us in telling the story of the book, donate today.
