Bindings of the Book Club of California
The Book Club of California has played a major role in the history and preservation of the art of fine printing in California for over a century. Its books are carefully conceived, thoughtfully designed, and attractively printed in limited editions, often by the foremost fine press printers in the country.
Standard | Deluxe | Design looks at the bindings of these finely made books, displaying select volumes from the publication history of the Book Club of California, showcasing its new tradition of deluxe editions and a selection of Book Club publications with unique covers created by noted California bookbinders.
The exhibit is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm, admission to the exhibit is free and open to the public!
The ABM is offering three lectures led by BCC members:
- Saturday, December 11, 2021: John Hawk – Mallette Dean, A Printmaker and His Art
- Saturday, January 8, 2022: Chris Loker – A Shimmer of Joy: One Hundred Children’s Picture Books in America
- Saturday, February 19, 2022: Peter Hiller – The Life and Times of Jo Mora: Iconic Artist of the American West
