SF in SF with Laura Anne Gilman, Dana Fredsti, and Meg Elison

Please join us for an evening of reading and conversation with authors Laura Anne Gilman, Dana Fredsti, and Meg Elison, in conversation with Bay Area writer, editor, and raconteur Terry Bisson.

Laura Anne Gilman‘s most recent book, Uncanny Times, is being lauded as a “lush, atmospheric historical fantasy” (Publishers Weekly) that “packs a punch” (Booklist).  The author of 30+ books, including the Devil’s West series (Silver in the RoadThe Cold Eye and Red Waters Rising), she has won the Endeavor Award for Fiction, and been a finalist for the Endeavor, the Nebula Award for Best Novel, and the Washington State Book Award for Fiction. Gilman lives in the Pacific Northwest with one dog, one cat, and many deadlines.  You can learn more at lauraannegilman.net or follow her on social media.

Dana Fredsti is a “novelist and screenwriter, B-movie actress (okay, C movie actress), zombie aficionado, exotic and domestic feline advocate, swordfighter, wine lover and beach glass junkie.” She is the author of the Spawn of Lilith series, the Ashley Parker series, and the Time Shards Trilogy (with David Fitzgerald). Her most recent book is Hollywood Monsters. She lives in the Bay Area with a husband, a dog, and many, many cats.

Meg Elison is an author and feminist essayist. Her debut, The Book of the Unnamed Midwife, won the 2014 Philip K. Dick award. Her most recent novel is Number One Fan, which the SF Chronicle calls “A tense, gripping, page-turning masterpiece….” Elison is a Hugo, Nebula, Locus, Sturgeon, and Otherwise awards finalist. She is also a high school dropout and a graduate of UC Berkeley. She lives in Oakland, California, with her husband and an ancient, irascible cat.

Doors open at 6:00 pm; event begins at 6:30 pm. Admission is $10 (no one is turned away for lack of funds). As always, Bookshop West Portal will be on hand with copies of the authors’ works for sale.
