SF in SF with Hannu Rajaniemi and Christopher Brown

Please join us for an evening of reading and conversation with authors Hannu Rajaniemi and Christopher Brown, in conversation with Bay Area writer, editor, and raconteur Terry Bisson.

Hannu Rajaniemi was born in Finland and obtained his PhD in string theory from the University of Edinburgh. He is the author of Summerland (2018) and the three novels in the Jean le Flambeur series, published in both English and Finnish: The Quantum Thief (which won the Tähtivaeltaja Award and was both a Campbell Award nominee and Locus nominee for Best First Novel); The Fractal Prince, and most recently The Causal Angel. He now lives in Oakland, and is a co-founder and CEO of HelixNano, a synthetic biology startup based in the Bay Area.

Christopher Brown‘s debut novel, Tropic of Kansas, was a finalist for the John W. Campbell Award for best science fiction novel of the year. His new novel, Rule of Capture, was published in August by Harper Voyager. His shorter work—stories, nonfiction, and criticism—has appeared in a wide variety of magazines and anthologies. He was a 2013 World Fantasy Award nominee for the anthology he co-edited, Three Messages and a Warning: Contemporary Mexican Short Stories of the Fantastic. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his family, and works in a 1978 Airstream trailer.

Doors open at 6:00 pm; event begins at 6:30 pm. As always, Borderlands Books will be on hand with copies of the authors’ works for sale.
