Monthly Bookbinding Workshop: Carousel Binding

Life is a Carousel…and a Binding!

Join the American Bookbinders Museum on Saturday, November 9, for a workshop on Carousel bindings. Stylistically it is an accordion pop-up binding devised of layers that when stretched and attached, cover-to-cover, create a “carousel” effect. While the exact origins of these books are not known, Carousel Books have enjoyed periods of popularity throughout history, particularly during the Victorian era when elaborate and interactive books were highly coveted as works of art. They also make wonderful winter decorations resembling snowflakes when hung.
