Recycle, Reuse–Rebind!
Everyone has an old paperback book they love, but its cover’s are creased, ripped or have gone missing. Due to the ephemeral nature of a perfect binding (glued spine, thin paper covers), paperbacks don’t withstand as much wear and tear as that of a hardcover binding. Now is your chance to transform that prized possession into a more durable keepsake. Join the American Bookbinders Museum in a workshop to rebind paperbacks and transform your cherished paperback into a long-lasting hardcover binding.
This workshop is BYOP (bring your own paperback)—if you don’t have a special paperback the museum will provide one. Your paperback should have its spine still intact. The glued spine will not be changed, it will be reinforced. Join this rebinding workshop and give new life to that special book.
This workshop is brought to you in part by a grant from the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation. Due to this grant we are pleased to be offering need-based scholarships to applicants. If you are interesting in a scholarship please fill out this form to apply.
Cost: $45 per person, all materials will be provided
