Introduction to Bookbinding for Adults

June 10, 12:30 – 4:30

ABM is delighted to have Mexican bookbinder and teacher Dulce Maria Luna, offer this four-hour workshop for adults 18 and up. Students will learn about the elements that make up a book, and the materials and tools used in its construction and care.

Bookbinding is a traditional craft that is still practiced today. In this 4-hour session students will produce a notebook for personal use. Students will learn the elements of hand binding, and gain knowledge of the materials and tools used.

Participants will learn the parts of a book by constructing it from start to finish, while putting their own creative stamp on it.

After a brief introduction and history of the book, students will fold, sew, decorate endpapers, prepare the spine, glue, assemble, and decorate their books.

Cost: $50. (Materials and tools included)
Age: 18 and up
Capacity: 20 students
