Join us Monday, February 9, 2026 at 6:30pm for a special reception, open house and talk.
Experience special exhibit, Suntup Editions: A 21st Century Fine Press at the American Bookbinders Museum in San Francisco. Suntup Editions produces limited editions that embody the finest traditions of the book arts— letterpress printing, thoughtful typography, commissioned illustrations, exquisite materials, and finely crafted bindings.
Founder Paul Suntup is the architect behind an innovative fine press. Often credited with helping to spark a new renaissance in letterpress printing, he has introduced fine press publishing to a wider audience while maintaining uncompromising standards of artistry and execution. Through a distinctive multi-state approach—offering variations in binding, paper, and presentation—his editions demonstrate how fine press can be both accessible and aspirational in the 21st century. His publications span genres not typically associated with the fine press tradition. Among his publications you will find classics like Dante’s Divine Comedy alongside Charlie and the Chocolate factory.
Paul Suntup will discuss the inspiration behind founding Suntup Editions, his design philosophy, the opening of the press’s in-house bindery, and the challenges of sustaining fine press ideals in a contemporary context. Among the books on display are a selection of editions that range from literary classics to modern works of fiction, each realized through collaboration with leading printers, designers, binders, and artists.
Join us for this special evening at the American Bookbinders Museum. Light refreshments and beverages will be served.
