Collator used to assembly printed sections for a book or magazine. These could be used as standalone machines that just assembled sections or later coupled in line with side wire stitchers and or binders for bound magazines or book blocks that were later processed into hardcover books. Sheridan purchased Gullberg and Smith in 1919 and used this collator until the aquisition of George Junegst and Sons product line from American Assembling in 1933. I am estimating this photo was taken in Manhattan at either the G&S works or at Sheridans shop in Manhattan, this was not taken at Champlain Iron Works.
