Excellent example of Japonisme in decorated bindings. Small mustard colored cloth with a rectangular color chromolithograph onlay to the front cover placed on a diagonal. Title band in gilt. Black stamped design to the front and rear of bamboo trees and branches, Japanese fans, mountain peaks, clouds, birds flying. (Motifs of Japanese prints). Spine is labeled The Hans Andersen Library.
