Another term for an arming press in America, this small stamping press would be used to emboss cases on a smaller scale-- both in number and in size. American stamping presses, used to press the text blocks, grain book cloth, as well as emboss and gild the cases, differed from the English arming presses, which were only used for the embossing and gilding of a case. Note the gauge on the platen that is used to insure that the case is always properly aligned before stamping.
