Publisher's Binding- European Origin

Dark olive green cloth binding with elaborate designs in gold and black: abstract corner decorations, flowers, vines, and plain borders. Center panel features diamond-patterned clubs, initials and eagles, with large diamond with gold border and black spotted fill, with a horned helmet (leaves coming out of the horns) and black and gold clubs and vines on a shield. Similar patterning for spine, but without diamonds. Black band with gold text and gold numeral indicating volume number. Back cover has blind-stamped coat of arms with the text: VI ET ARTE DEUTSCHE VERLAGS ANSTALT. Marbled endpapers. Dual printed endpapers: gold cross hatching and a green floral pattern. Signed binding "Hasert GR. Stutt."
